Having been affected by natural disasters or pollution in the past five years, six months and three months; preparedness for future disasters.

What the survey asks: experience

Views on the actions taken to recover from disasters and to deal with pollution, and feelings about the range of actions taken.

Findings

Tunisia (63.6), Lebanon (61.8) and Morocco (58.4) record the least exposure; Saudi Arabia (35.6) and Yemen (39.7) the most. Experience of the response ranges from 43.5 (Jordan) to 65.2 (Tunisia) and 63.9 (Kuwait).

Tunisia, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen and Saudi Arabia rate the response above their exposure; Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt the reverse.

What the gap may indicate (inference, not measured)Where residents are affected and rate the response low, the pattern points to the adequacy of the public response; the survey does not identify which agency responded.

Administrative implicationEnvironmental administrations can monitor exposure on the access measure and use the experience measure to assess the response.
